LIHEAP is a critical, life-saving program that targets and serves the most vulnerable households to meet their home energy needs. In 2024, nearly 6 million households across the US received assistance from LIHEAP and LIHEAP helped prevent 2.75 million households from having their power shut off.
As economic hardships and extreme weather events continue across the United States, the need for this assistance is more critical than ever. More than 70 percent of LIHEAP recipient households include one or more vulnerable persons, including seniors, disabled persons, and families with young children. Surviving at the lowest levels of poverty, LIHEAP recipients make heartbreaking choices every day between housing, food, medicine, or electricity.
LIHEAP helps ensure access to life-saving energy as families struggle with basic needs. Please take a moment to contact your representative and urge them to protect maximum funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
